The collected home · A Kildare Carpets & Flooring project
Warm texture, a crisp black border and a thread of brass bring a bespoke staircase into harmony with its surroundings.
With its sweeping handrail, softly toned timber and elegant wall panelling, this entrance already had a distinctive character. The client’s brief was to create a stair runner that would complement the palette of the house and feel entirely at home within it.
Kildare Carpets & Flooring crafted a runner in warm, textured neutrals, framed with a confident black trim. Following the curve of the staircase, the border creates a clean, continuous line, defining each step while leaving the timber visible on either side.

The finishing touch is a series of elegant brass stair rods. Their warm gleam echoes the brass inlay in the flooring below, drawing the two surfaces into one cohesive design. Viewed from the hallway, they lend a gentle rhythm to the ascent; from above, the relationship between the runner, curved staircase and herringbone floor becomes beautifully clear.
Soft texture meets precise definition. Timber and brass carry through from floor to stair. The result is an entrance with presence, warmth and a sense that every element belongs.

Two ways to dress your stairs
A runner leaves timber visible at the sides, drawing the eye along the staircase. A full stair carpet covers the width of the treads for softness across the entire staircase.
The right choice depends on your staircase, the condition of the exposed timber and the look you want throughout the hall and landing. We can help you compare both approaches and select a carpet suited to use on stairs.

Yes. We can discuss runner proportions and edging options around your chosen carpet. The final width and edging will depend on the staircase dimensions, material and fitting requirements.
Curves and winding steps need individual assessment. Bring photographs to the showroom so we can discuss the possibilities, then confirm the design and fitting approach after measuring.
The carpet must be suitable for stair use. Texture, construction, pattern and everyday use all matter. Our team can help you compare suitable options and check the product specifications for your project.
We can explore a coordinated scheme for your stairs and landing. Pattern direction, joins and transitions depend on the layout and chosen carpet, so we plan the stairs and landing together.
Stair rods are an optional decorative detail, not a substitute for correctly securing the carpet. We can discuss which styles complement your staircase and chosen carpet.

Stair carpet choices
Stripes can draw the eye up a staircase and connect the hall with the landing. Herringbone brings a finer repeated pattern; a plain runner with a contrasting border creates a clean outline. Turning steps and landing joins need careful planning so the design works across the full staircase.
Begin with a carpet approved for stair use, then compare the construction, feel and care requirements. Stairs concentrate wear around the front of each tread. Tell us about everyday footfall and pets, and look at the carpet alongside the painted timber, handrail and hall flooring.
The quotation depends on the chosen carpet, stair shape, landing dimensions, pattern matching, underlay and fitting. Binding, borders and decorative rods add separate choices. A curved staircase or winding steps can require more detailed work than a straight flight.
Ask for the total fitted price and the agreed scope, including any preparation, uplift or disposal. For a Dublin or Kildare project, contact our Celbridge team with your location and staircase photographs to arrange free measuring and a quotation.
