Yes, when the carpet, underlay and heating system are compatible. Here is what to check before choosing the finish.

Consider the complete floor.
Carpet can be used with suitable underfloor heating systems, but the decision depends on the specified products. The carpet and underlay both resist the flow of heat, so they must be considered together. Choosing by pile height or softness alone is not enough.
Ask for the carpet and underlay tog values and compare the combined figure with the heating system’s permitted floor-covering resistance. The heating designer or installer should confirm that the room will receive the output it needs.

Bring the heating details to the showroom.
Share the system type, its floor-covering requirements and any relevant installation instructions. For a new floor, discuss screed readiness and commissioning with the appropriate trades. For an existing system, establish what is already installed.
A carpet marketed as suitable for heating still needs a compatible underlay and correct installation. Ask about temperature limits and the procedure for bringing the heating back into use after fitting. Follow the written instructions for the actual combination selected.

Once compatibility is established, compare colour and texture in the usual way. A neutral carpet may create a restful bedroom, while a more defined texture can give a landing character. You do not need to make the design decision before discussing the technical requirements.
